Red Hot Chili Peppers 1998 Tour : ウィキペディア英語版 | Red Hot Chili Peppers 1998 Tour
The Red Hot Chili Peppers 1998 Tour was a concert tour by American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers. The fourteen date tour was a short trip through the United States and marked the official return of guitarist, John Frusciante who after six years rejoined the band on April 29, 1998 replacing a recently fired Dave Navarro. ==Background== John Frusciante decided that he was fed up with touring, wanted no part of being in a mainstream rock band, performing in arenas. Throughout his final shows on the band's hugely successful ''Blood Sugar Sex Magik'' tour, Frusciante would constantly try and sabotage the band's shows by messing up his guitar parts and vocals (something he claimed years later of not doing). This caused bad blood between Frusicante and singer Anthony Kiedis who were once very close. In May 1992 Frusciante suddenly quit the band while in Japan. The band quickly scrambled to find his replacement, Arik Marshall in time for their summer headlining slot at Lollapalooza and for the remainder of the tour into 1993. Following the tour, Marshall was fired and briefly replaced by Jesse Tobias who was quickly fired and replaced in September 1993 by Dave Navarro, who was originally contacted in 1992 following Frusciante's departure but turned down the opportunity. After almost five up and down years with the band and one album, 1995's ''One Hot Minute'', Navarro was fired in early 1998. Following Navarro's firing, Kiedis said the only way he could picture the band going forward was with Frusciante back in the band. Since leaving the band in 1992, Frusciante became a major heroin junkie and appeared to be near death many times. He was still in rehab when Flea asked him to rejoin, which made Frusciante tear up with joy. Kiedis and Frusciante were also able to quickly patch up their personal problems. With Frusciante back in the band for the first time in six years, the Chili Peppers struck out on a small mini-tour. The band performed their first show with Frusciante at the 9:30 Club in Washington DC and a day later performed a three song set at the Tibetan Freedom Concert at RFK Stadium in DC where the band was expected to play longer however due to weather problems their set was completely cut however Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder said his band would cut their set short to allow the Chili Peppers to play. The tour would feature the band's first performances of songs from their upcoming album, 1999's ''Californication''.
